About

Joyce and Paul live in a small community just outside of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario in Canada. They retired the summer of 2016. Joyce retired after spending her life in the healthcare field: first as a front line nurse, then moving into management in Healthcare Information Technology and finishing in Health System planning. After more than 39 years as a service technician with IBM, Paul retired. He saw huge technology advances, beginning his career with typewriters and photocopiers, working on large computer systems that took up an entire room and finishing with point of sale systems as well as printers and banking equipment. It’s been their dream to travel North America, but not as full-timers – they are too invested in their families, including their two young grandsons, to be gone from Southern Ontario full time.  A trip to Alaska for nearly 3 1/2 months in the summer of 2017 was their retirement dream and everything they had hoped for! They’ve enjoyed spending time during the snowy Ontario winters in the warmer southern states, and had a trip to the Atlantic provinces with 2 of our grandsons and to BC and Washington in the summer of 2018 for a cousin’s wedding. Some of their travels were curtailed during the years of COVID, but with that settling into a more stable time, they’ve carried on with travels on their bucket lists.
