Back on the east side of South Island

We had another beautiful start to the day. Only a 2 hour drive today, so it was a leisurely morning. With clear blue skies and minimal clouds, we were on our way.

There were a few low lying clouds.

We had another view of Mt. Cook this morning.

Half way to the coast, we stopped at Lake Tekapo and had our lunch sitting on a bench at the side of the lake.

More beautiful colours.
We had visitors while we ate.

They also had unique public washrooms. The outside had an electric notice if it was occupied. As you entered, it told u how to lock the door and that you had a max of 10 minutes!

Onwards we went, stopping briefly in Fairlie for fuel and to buy a couple of their famous meat pies for supper. The store was packed!

Our stop for the night was a beautiful suite, complete with whirlpool tub! It was also much more reasonable in price compared to last night. Might have something to do with being on the east coast again. It’s definitely much more populated.

We’ll head south tomorrow to the town of Dunedin, our last stop before Queenstown.
