Seward, AK

We arrived in Seward yesterday – we checked out a couple of campgrounds on the north end of town but elected to get a campsite right in Seward overlooking the ocean. It is a city-owned site and basically a number of paved lots with lines marked to show the site boundary. Some have a fire pit at the end and there are some grassy, treed strips in between the lots. However, it is in walking distance to downtown and we overlook the harbour and all the boats going in and out.

The weather is cloudy – the clouds moved in by noon yesterday and we had a bit of drizzle, but nothing much has materialized yet. We decided to take Saturday morning to do laundry since there is a nice laundromat near the campsite.

Last night we walked around the downtown checking out a few of the stores for trinkets – lots to look at but nothing we were interested in buying. Looks like restaurants will be pricey here too – $20+ for an order of fish and chips. We’ll have to see if we can catch our own!
